Calla Sophistication

Christy Henegan married Ben Fields on October 4, 2008 at the First Community Church in Grandview, Ohio. When I met with Christy in April to start the planning, her face beamed as she described to me her ideal wedding as, "the best wedding ever!!" Her color palette of sage green, ivory, plum and lavender was well captured in the blooms she chose. Picasso miniature callas were the perfect choice for her bouquet and Ben's boutonniere while lavender roses paired with royal purple stock crowned the cake and were sprinkled on nine guest tables at the Golf Club of Dublin.

Ceremony Location: First Community Church, Grandview, Ohio

Reception Location: Golf Club of Dublin, Dublin, Ohio

Monday's December Wedding

Stephanie Monday hired us to design her wedding flowers for her December 13th wedding with a few key elements: she wanted red and white, modern and sophisticated yet simple. The florals we created for her prompted her to send us an email with this message:

"...I knew they were going to be awesome, but when I saw them, they far exceeded my expectations. I received so many compliments on them! I wasn't planning to preserve my bouquet, but once I saw it, I changed my mind. I will definitely be suggesting Bloomtastic to anyone I know who is getting married in the Columbus area!"

Stephanie's bouquet was a collection of rich red lilies as the focal flower on top of a canvas of white roses with splashes of deep red hypericum berries. The eight bridesmaid's carried a bouquet of just white lilies and red hypericum berries for a wintry feel.

The reception was decked out with 15 red poinsettias with silver metallic covers, which came from a local grower of award-winning poinsettias.

Ceremony Location: Bexley United Methodist Church

Saying I Do, Citrus Style

Katie Tincher's wedding to Andy in November might have been a tad chilly weather wise but the colors were bright and warm! She loved the idea of incorporating fruit into her lush centerpieces of all white hydrangeas and snap dragons so we sliced up fresh oranges and they made the perfect finishing touch. Katie's bouquet was a sophisticated collection of vivid orange roses accompanied by white miniature callas and splashes of orange Mokara orchids, which she also wore in her hair. To include her love of Tiffany blue, which was her accent color, blue-colored pearls accentuated the white ribbon adorning the stems. The bridesmaid's chocolate brown dresses were complimented by their bouquets of white full size callas with a hint of tangerine on the stems. Katie and party were thrilled with the flowers, she "loooooved" her bouquet and so did one of her guests...so much she hired us the following week for her 2009 wedding!

Autumn Elegance at the Darby House

Shelia O'Connor's formal fall wedding at the Darby House was magnificent, to say the least. Shelia described her perfect wedding flowers in her initial consultation as being sophisticated and classic. She wanted bouquets that were colorful to contrast with her bridesmaid's black tea length dresses and centerpieces that looked classic and simple. And she knew she wanted deep red, orange and green for her flower colors. From there, Shelia and her floral consultant, Heather, designed the exquisite arrangements you see shared here. Shelia's bouquet was a stunning collection of cream colored roses paired with deep velvety red roses and mango callas. Burnt red hypericum berries accented the flowers with a hint of pittisporum as the collar. Copper wire was swirled down the handle for a personal touch. The bridesmaids carried a similar collection but with a unique green flower called trachelium in the design as an accent. Her centerpieces were lilies and orchids styled with a natural, modern twist. Black Baccara roses finished the look of the cake by placing her toss bouquet on top as the cake topper.

Gina's October Wedding at the Granville Inn

Gina Weisenbarger came to us with a clear vision of what she wanted for her October 10th wedding to Jeff--soft, elegant and lots of texture. Her stunning bouquet was designed of Esperance (light pink) roses, Jade green roses, citrus green cymbidiums and white spray roses on a bed of lush white hydrangeas, accented by green hanging amaranthus. To accentuate her personality in the bouquet, she asked us to add rhinestones to the handle of the bouquet, which were the perfect finishing touch! Jeff matched his lovely bride by wearing a boutonniere designed of pink mini callas accented by a band of rhinestones. Not pictured are two English Garden themed topiaries which framed Jeff and Gina as they exchanged vows out front of the Granville Inn. Gina was very appreciative of her florals and sent an email thanking us for all our hard work. Gina, it was a pleasure to be your florist and an honor to be a part of your special day!

Something Blue...

Jennifer Denecke had visions of ice blue and simple for her wedding flowers and she was in luck! Light blue delphinium and hydrangeas fit the bill perfectly. Her hand-tied bouquet of lush light blue hydrangeas was accented by miniature green hydrangeas, light blue delphinium and white gerbera daisies. She wore in her hair a single white gerbera while Jim, her husband, also sported a white gerbera. Jennifer and Jim had a memorable day at the Darby House and some wonderful pictures to cherish!
